                                                        Getting Started
Many new allotment holders choose to cover part of the plot with weed membrane and cultivate only 30% of the plot initially.
This reduces the heavy digging required to get something underway while suppressing weed growth.
Other sections of the plot can then be brought into production by removing some of the weed membrane once the first section is cultivated.

                                                        Choosing Tools
I can be confusing choosing tools with the vast array presented in shops and on-line.
We have put together a simple guide to choosing the right tools.
See our guide to tool selection - here

                                                        Cleaning and Sharpening
Clean and sharp tools always perform better so getting a sharperner and a brush for around £3, will make the work easier and your tools last longer.
See our guide to tool maintenance section - here
